Speedway - Toledo, OH
Qualifying
for the USA Modifieds was scrapped for the entire 43 car field after only a
portion of the cars were able to take times due to a list mist that set in,
stopping action for about a half-hour. Rain wiped out the 4 Cylinder event.
Ann Palmer of National City presented trophies to the winners.
Ft. Wayne, IN driver Tony Dager survived a wild crash on the initial start
of the 50 lap main event and led every circuit on his way to victory in the
main event. On the complete re-start, Dager sped away to grab the point as
things settled down for a while. As the laps wound down, Dager had plenty of
company in the form of Bob Curry. Curry looked high and low for a way around
Dager but to no avail. Curry dipped low on the final 2 laps looking for the
win, but Dager held on for the victory over Curry, Rodney Scott, Nick
Clemens, Tim Burkett, Jon Beach, Dennis Prunty, Bud Camp, Steve Curry and
Damon Breedlove. Todd Griggs and Prunty captured the 12 lap B Main wins.
Johnny Belott captured the 6 lap dash, but suffered a flat tire on the
original start in the main event. Tim Burkett was the winner of the fast
heat.

The races at Slinger Speedway have been rained out tonight (9-10-06). There
was no rain date scheduled so we had the drivers vote to see if they wanted
to add another points race to the season next Sunday night ..........the
majority voted against it.
Friday, September 8th -

The mishap coming off turn four heading to the checkered would result in the
leaders Haseleu and Feiler eliminated from the contest in a grinding crash.
Carlson raced past the tangled machines for a stunning upset victory. Lepak
would turn in his strongest WCS performance of the year reaching second.
Kreyer, slipped past Morrissey during the final laps of the event to claim
third. Morrissey nursed an ill-handling car home in the fourth spot, while

Slinger Speedway - Slinger, WI
...Nick
Schumacher led the opening laps while Schill, Dennis Prunty, and Conrad
Morgan followed. Schumacher paced the first seven laps before stalling on
the speedway with mechanical problems, producing the first caution flag and
handing the lead to Schill. Schill led Prunty and Morgan on the restart with
Tony Strupp, Lowell Bennett, and Mike Strupp holding down the rest of the
top five positions. Prunty tried to pressure Schill for the lead, but soon

Slinger Speedway - Slinger, WI
Jeremy Lepak notched his second late model
feature win of the season Sunday night at the Slinger Super Speedway,
holding off David Prunty to win the Sundance Vacations 65 and stopping
Prunty’s win streak at three weeks.
“When you’ve got that #1 car (Prunty) coming to you, you’ve always got to
look in the mirror,” Lepak stated from victory lane. “I just tried to look
straight ahead and just do what I had to do and keep my rhythm to keep this
car out front.”
Gary LaMonte and Collin Bamke paced the field at the start and Bamke used
the outside to grab the lead while LaMonte battled with Dennis Prunty and
Lepak for second. Prunty and Lepak both were able to race their way past
LaMonte and a few laps later LaMonte also fell victim to Nick Schumacher and
David Prunty. Bamke began to pull away to a sizeable advantage as Lepak
moved into second place while Dennis Prunty tried to hold off his brother
David for third place. David Prunty advanced to third on lap 24 while Lepak
began to slowly close the distance between him and the leader. By lap 40,
Lepak was glued to Bamke’s rear bumper and after making several looks to the
inside, Lepak looked to the high side and completed the pass on lap 42.
Three laps later David Prunty worked his way by Bamke for second and began
to attempt to close on Lepak for the lead. Lepak caught the tail end of the
field and worked the lapped traffic well to maintain his advantage over
David Prunty while Dennis Prunty and Bamke engaged in a spirited battle for
third. Lepak was able to hold David Prunty at bay and he drove to the win
while behind the top two, Bamke edged Dennis Prunty for third. Nick
Schumacher finished fifth while Josh Bauer and Al Schill were sixth and
seventh respectively. John Mueller, Lowell Bennett, and Chad Barker
completed the top ten finishers.
Lepak also was the winner of the 30-lap late model Race of Champions which
consisted of feature winners and fast qualifiers from the season. Dennis
Prunty finished in second place ahead of David Prunty and Al Schill. John
Mueller took the checkered flag in fifth. Scott Schoeni held off Mark Bitzan
to win the 30-lap late model semi-feature. Randy Schuler crossed the finish
line in third while Race McComb and Dan Jung finished in fourth and fifth
respectively. Dennis Prunty won the late model fast dash and David Prunty
was the fastest qualifier at 11.456 seconds.

Milwaukee Mile - Wauwatosa, WI
...With so many cars in the pit area, a field of 40 cars would accept
the green flag for the 12 lap Last Chance event. Jake Ryan the polesitter
for the contest would dominate the race taking a convincing win. Scott
Ollerman would reach the finish line in second, followed by Dean Cornelius,
Brian Johnson Jr., Jeremy Miller and Kyle Calmes in the top six spots that
transferred to the main event. Dennis Prunty would finish seventh just
missing the show.Prunty however would return for the final
contest of the day and reach victory lane in convincing fashion. A 20 lap
B-feature was held for all the cars that remained after the field for the
main event was set. Prunty and hard charging youngster Jacob Humphrey would
battle throughout the contest. Humphrey would lead the way the first five
laps before Prunty would work by and into the top spot. Though he never was
able to gain much of an advantage over Humphrey, once out front Prunty was
able to pace the distance to the checkered for the win. Humphrey would
settle for second followed by a fast closing Jeff Way in third. Bryan Roach
and Neil Knoblock would complete the top five finishers.

The Super Late Model 50 lap headliner would see title contender Mike
Gardner on the pole, with Keith Romenesko to his outside. Visiting racer
Dennis Prunty from Slinger Super Speedway and current Wisconsin Challenge
Series and Golden Sands Speedway point leader Kenny Richards would filter
into second and third behind Gardner as Romenesko fell to the fourth spot
before debris was found on the raceway on lap four forcing a slowdown.
Gardner was back to the lead with Prunty and Richards following. Defending
champion Rod Wheeler would make his way to the fourth spot on lap ten with
Jim Duchow and current point leader Tim Rothe in tow. On the next lap Mark
Schroeder came rolling to a stop in turn two brining out the second caution
of the contest and bunching the field.
Gardner again surged out front with Prunty giving chase, while Richards
drifted back in the field as Wheeler, Duchow and Rothe made their way past.
On lap 22 Wheeler would put a move on Prunty and snag the second spot, but
faced a eight car length lead Gardner had built up. Rothe not wanting to
lose ground to Gardner in the point battle would work by Duchow on lap 28
for the fourth spot.
Out front Gardner continued to keep a pace that kept his cushion on
Wheeler at eight car lengths. Prunty ran comfortable in third, while Rothe
in fourth sought to close the gap.
Duchow would suffer a flat tire on lap 40 giving the firth spot to fast
qualifier Andy Monday. Over the final five laps Gardner began to increase
his lead on Wheeler who found himself having to defend his second position
from both Prunty and Rothe. Rothe charged a bit too hard, spinning his ride
in turn two with just four laps to go in the contest. As a result he would
have to filter to the tail of the field as he forced the caution flag to
come out.
The final laps clicked off quickly with Gardner taking the victory.
Wheeler finished second. Prunty and Monday would engage in a wheel to wheel
duel to the wire on the final lap with Monday getting the position by
inches. Prunty would claim fourth his best career finish in his limited
appearances at Wisconsin International Raceway. Nate Van Wychen would
comprise the top five finishers.
As a result of his victory and Rothe's misfortunes, Gardner would take
over the point lead in the season long championships by a margin of eight
points. Wheeler's second place finish was enough to grant Wheeler the
overall Budweiser Triple Crown title over Gardner in the three race series.

Slinger Speedway - Slinger, WI
...The inside lane worked well as racing resumed and Bennett kept his
lead while Barker, David Prunty, Dennis Prunty, and Al Schill all advanced
into the top five while Winn and Nick Schumacher fell back on the outside.
As Winn and Matt Kocourek raced hard for position, they made slight contact
and in the gridlock behind them, Mike Egan and Randy Schuler spun in turn
three to draw another caution flag on lap 44. Bennett once again took to the
inside for the restart and Barker lined up on the outside, leaving David
Prunty to occupy the inside slot behind Bennett. The inside line again
marched forward as the green flag reappeared and Prunty slotted into second
place behind Bennett while Schill, Barker, and Dennis Prunty followed.
Another quick caution on lap 52 for a spin by Dave Teske in turn two,
resulted in David Prunty occupying the outside lane alongside Bennett for
the restart.

Prunty was able to work well in the top groove and both he and Bennett raced
side by side for several laps with neither driver able to gain a sizeable
advantage. Prunty finally was able to clear Bennett for the top spot on lap
63 as behind them, Schill skated up the track as Dennis Prunty and John
Mueller raced by and into third and fourth. A final caution flag appeared on
lap 65 as Mike Egan spun against the turn one wall and this time Bennett
found himself in the outside lane for the restart with Prunty in the inside
lane. Prunty held his ground and raced unchallenged to the checkered flag,
leaving Bennett to settle for second place. Schill rebounded to finish third
as Dennis Prunty and Josh Bauer rounded out the top five...

Dennis Prunty moved into second place by lap five and began to pressure
Barker for the top spot. The hard racing between the two resulted in Barker
spinning in turn two on lap seven, forcing both drivers to restart from the
back of the pack as the caution flag waved. The leader’s misfortune, handed
the lead to Mike Egan who chose the inside lane for the restart, leaving
Mueller to deal with the outside.
Egan pulled away as racing resumed while Schill worked his way into second
place two laps before the yellow flag appeared again when Travis Dassow spun
while racing with Josh Bauer. Egan lined up on the inside for the restart
and Schill flanked him as the green flag waved and Schill used the ouside to
grab the lead on lap 13. Behind the front two, Bennett and David Prunty
managed their way around Mueller to take over third and fourth place
respectively. Three laps later, Prunty charged his way first around Bennett
and then made his way by Egan and into second place. Prunty then edged
alongside Schill and the two raced door to door for five laps before Prunty
prevailed just before the 25-lap mark. Once out front, Prunty streaked away
from the field while Schill fell into a battle for second with Bennett while
Egan and Mueller disputed the fourth spot. A final caution flag flew on lap
49 after Rich Loch spun on the frontstretch while battling with Mike Strupp,
leaving a 15 lap sprint for the finish with Prunty choosing the inside line
and Bennett taking to the top side.
Prunty and Bennett both were on their marks for the restart, but Prunty
proved to be too much on the inside and he retained the top spot. Behind
them, Mueller advanced forward to race hard with Schill for third and Dennis
Prunty worked his way ahead from the back of the field to fight for the
fifth spot with Egan.

Fred Winn and Dennis Prunty began the race from the front row and Prunty
used the outside to take the lead at the start as Winn fell in line behind
him. Chad Barker moved into third place ahead of Tommy Pecaro and Nick
Schumacher while Bauer, Bennett, David Prunty, and Jeremy Lepak raced for
track position just outside the top five. The front four lined up and began
to pull away just before the first caution flag waved on lap 29 when Winn
experienced mechanical problems while running second and pulled off the
speedway trailing liquid behind him. Just as racing resumed, an
accordion-like effect on the restart resulted in numerous cars making
contact, sending Schumacher spinning around in turn four and clipping Conrad
Morgan which sent Morgan across the track and into the frontstretch wall.
Lepak became another casualty of the incident as he was forced to restart
the race from the rear of the field.

Dennis Prunty chose the inside for the restart, leaving Barker to line up to
his outside. Barker was able to keep pace as racing resumed and he raced
side by side with Prunty for three laps before edging by on lap 32. Once out
front, Barker immediately dove to the inside while Bauer and Bennett both
made they way around Prunty. Bauer began to close in on Barker for the top
spot with Bennett also moving in while David Prunty charged forward as well.
Bauer used the high side to complete the pass for the lead on lap 40 and
Bennett followed suite a few laps later, advancing to second place. David
Prunty worked his way into third place by lap 51 and he along with Bauer and
Bennett began to string away from the rest of the field. With the front
three racing single-file, Lepak was the car on the move in the second half,
launching his way from the back all the way to sixth place by lap 60, just
behind Dennis Prunty and Al Schill. Bauer hit his marks over the final ten
laps and drove to the win, just ahead of Bennett and David Prunty. Lepak
charged his way to fourth place at the finish while Dennis Prunty rounded
out the top five.

...Again, Pecaro chose the inside lane for the restart, but this time
Dennis Prunty found himself on the outside and he was able to keep pace with
Pecaro, taking the lead briefly on lap 40 before Pecaro was able to regain
the top spot three laps later. Pecaro and Prunty fought door to door until
lap 50 when Pecaro prevailed on the inside. Matt Raudabaugh spun in turn two
on lap 53 but was able to continue without causing a caution flag but as the
leaders approached Raudabaugh’s car, Pecaro appeared to lift momentarily in
anticipation of the caution flag that never appeared. Pecaro’s bobble cost
him the lead as David Prunty and Schill raced by and into the top two spots
while Dennis Prunty fell back a few positions after being forced to slow to
avoid Pecaro...

DENNIS PRUNTY SCORES FIRST FEATURE WIN OF THE 2006 SEASON
The rain definitely didn't stop the Port-A-John
#42 from a much deserved win on Sunday night. The day started off very
warm with 80 degree temperatures during practice and qualifying, but
conditions changed after the fast dashes as the severe weather started to
move into the area and the temperature dropped 20 degrees. Slinger did
their best to move the show along as fast as they could and even moved the
Late Model Feature event up in the schedule as an attempt to get it in
before the rain, but it started to pour during driver introductions for the
Feature. The rain delay put the show back about an hour and half, but once
the storm passed... all races resumed.
After qualifying 7th with a lap time of 11.554 Dennis just missed the fast
dash. Dennis was lined up for the feature in the 2nd row on the
outside. The #42 took over the lead from Mike Egan's #89 on lap nine
as the #1 of David Prunty followed into 2nd place. The Prunty brothers
battled through lap traffic as the last 56 laps ran caution-free. Even
as Dennis' motor began to fail during the last 6 laps, he was still able to
hold off his brother David to win round 2 of the Pepsi Challenge presented by Nutrisoda and Culver’s of
Jackson capturing his first win of the 2006 season.

Wisconsin Int'l Raceway - Kaukauna, WI
The DDP Motorsports Team made a surprise visit to WIR on Thursday to try
to dial-in the blue #42 for the Marshfield race coming up next Saturday.
It was a good thing they did... during practice Dennis found that he
had a cracked header pipe. The team scrambled to get the header pipe
welded up, but in the meantime missed their practice sessions which had a
definate impact on Dennis' qualifying effort. Dennis qualified 19th
and looked very fast in his heat race by winning the race by at least 15 car
lengths. He was pretty confident that he would have a chance at
finishing in the top 2 to transfer to the feature, but unfortunately shortly
into the semi-feature the right front tire went flat. Dennis kept the
car under control to get to the back of the field and then exited the track
which ended the night for the DDP Motorsports team.

...The final caution flag appeared on lap 71 as Robert Maynor stalled on
the frontstretch. Lepak took the inside slot for the restart and this
time Prunty was able to stay alongside on the outside as the green flag
flew. David Prunty had the horsepower to stay with Lepak and both drivers
battled side-by-side for the lead as the laps wound down. Lepak’s car
handled perfectly in the final laps and he was able to edge ahead of Prunty,
holding him off to score the victory. Josh Bauer finished a strong third
while Schill and Lowell Bennett completed the top five finishers. Nick
Schumacher finished in sixth place ahead of Dennis Prunty and Rich Loch
while Travis Dassow and John Mueller finishing in ninth and tenth place
respectively....
Dennis Prunty won the late model fast dash.

The big Midwest Championship race was to take place on Saturday, July 1st
with the Wisconsin Challenge Series “North American Cup 100”, Midwest Super
Trucks and Rascal Outlaws. Fans and drivers braved the muggy weather to see
a fantastic night of Wisconsin’s best racing as 34 super late models took to
the track. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had another idea as dangerous storms
moved in and shortened the evening.
Dennis qualified 15th, but was not able to race
before the rain. The races were rescheduled for Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
He was not able to come back since it conflicted with Slinger.

Bennett led the opening laps over Gary LaMonte as Mike Egan, Travis Dassow,
Nick Schumacher, and David Prunty all raced for the third position. Prunty
experienced mechanical issues which caused him to slow on lap ten and in the
effort to avoid his slowing car, Mike Strupp made contact with the car in
front of him and spun. Dennis Prunty then slid into Strupp’s stalled car as
the caution flag waved with Bennett leading LaMonte, Egan, Dassow, and

DOUBLE-DUTY
Dennis Prunty had a great night in the #42 Port-A-John late model. He
started out the night qualifying 5th with a fast 11.393 lap time.
Dennis then went on to win the Fast Dash. Then in the feature Dennis
started the race in 6th place. The first caution came out at lap 10
and Dennis had already made his way up to 3rd place. After racing
Collin Bamke for the lead, Dennis finally took over the lead at lap 33 when
the caution came out. Dennis fought a loose race car for most of the
race and couldn't continue to hold on to the lead. Collin Bamke took
over the lead once again and Dennis finished 2nd followed by his brother
David Prunty in 3rd. It was a great points night for both Pruntys as
David took over the lead and Dennis jumped up to 4th place.
MODIFIED RESULTS
You just never know which of the
Prunty cars are going to show up at the track. This week Dale brought
both his Modifieds and let Dennis drive the yellow #17...
Ron Schmitt took top honors in the 25-lap Midwest Modified feature.
Dennis Prunty led the beginning laps as he battled side by side with Schmitt
in the early going as Jason Feyereisen and Steve Huelsbeck. A tangle between
John Kruschell and Joey Bentfield in turn three on lap seven brought out the
yellow flag with Dennis Prunty leading Schmitt and Feyereisen. Schmitt
worked his way by Prunty on lap eight while Huelsbeck also advanced forward,
taking second place on lap ten. With Schmitt and Huelsbeck out front, Wes
Biswell worked his way forward into third place on lap 11 while Dale Prunty
joined the top five. As Huelsbeck and Biswell fought hard for second place,
Schmitt extended his advantage. With Schmitt pulling farther away, the
battle for second expanded to four cars as Dale Prunty and Feyereisen joined
Huelsbeck and Biswell as the laps ticked down. Schmitt charged to the win
while at the line, Dale Prunty nipped Biswell for second place. Huelsbeck
finished in fourth place and Feyereisen was fifth.
Schmitt also was the winner of the Midwest Modified fast dash and Huelsbeck
was the fastest qualifier at 12.293 seconds.
