David began working with race teams in 1986 at the age of 15. He helped Jim Weber at the Slinger Nationals. Jim taught David many racing secrets. After turning 16, David started working with Jerry Wood and his #73 late model at Slinger and Columbus. In 1987,David began working with Zimmerman Motorsports and John Zimmerman's #70 Late Model. David assisted the team and learned as he went. The team raced at WIR in Kaukauna, Slinger Super Speedway, Madison International Speedway, Wisconsin Dells Speedway and LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway. David eventually took over as crew chief for the team. During David’s affiliation with the team, they also supplied cars for NASCAR stars including Michael Waltrip, Davey Allsion and David Green. In 1991,David started working for Wegner Automotive Research. He was part of the Wegner team that ultimately won the NASCAR Busch Grand National Engine Builder of the year award in 1992. While at Wegner, David worked with and supplied motors for Ernie Irvan, Terry Labonte, Bobby Labonte, Dale Earnhardt and Davey Allison. In 1994,David took advantage of the opportunity to work with the Wegner Motorsports NASCAR Busch team as an Engine Technician and pit crew member for the #33 Dentyne sponsored car driven by Bobby Labonte in 12 events. 1990&1991 Spectator 200 enduro races, finished 9th out of over 100 cars also raced street stock #42 at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna 1992 Raced street stock Monte Carlo #21 at WIR, Kaukauna 3 races also Slinger Stinger debut in #21 Malibu, 3 races-1 heat win 1993 Raced in 15 events at Slinger Super Speedway-5 feature wins-5 heat race wins 1993 Pioneer Plaza Street Stock Special Winner 1994 Raced 3 events at Slinger Speedway-1 heat race win-sold street stock. Started building Super Late Model and putting team together for 1995. 1995 Completed rookie season at Slinger Super Speedway with 3 race wins. Final season standings 26th out of over 50 regular drivers 1996 Finished second full season of late model racing at Slinger Speedway. Consistently ran in feature events until mechanical problems set in. Final standings-19th in points. 1997 Debut of the #1 1997 Ford Thunderbird and re-designed 1997 Lefthander Chassis. Led every lap of the Bob Fish season opener.4 fast dash apperances-12th in points 1998 Finished 5th in points at Slinger Speedway with a new 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix. Was fast qualifier 3 times and was in the dash nearly every week. 1999 Finished 3rd in points at Slinger Speedway. Was fast qualifier 3 times and never missed a feature event. 2000 Continued being one of the most consitent drivers with 6 fast times. Winner of the Bob Fish Pontiac Buick GMC twin 50's. 2001 SLINGER NATIONALS CHAMPION! Multiple feature wins and fast times 2002 Again David is recognized as the most consistent driver taking his record of starts without missing a feature to over 100 races. Multiple feature wins including the "Race of Champions." 2003 David maintains his top 5 status again with several feature wins and fast time efforts, and adds a second car to the D&D Stable. 2004 The #1 team again is a front runner at every track they compete at, and many more victories. 2005 Runner-up in season points at Slinger, win total of 5 features
