Pete Wiedmeyer Racing Bio
Welcome to Wiedmeyer Racing!!
We started racing after years of watching Stuart"Chopper" Wiedmeyer race.
Chopper ran the number 55..as we did until moving up to the Late Models.
R.I.P Chopper
Pete and the team started racing at Slinger Speedway in 1996.
We purchased a Monte Carlo from Ross Rate, and we were racin'!
There were 53 cars competing in the Super Stocks(Slinger stingers?)
We finished 17th...not
too bad for a group of rookies.
In 1997...we took 12th
out of 39 cars, took our share of licks...but we were
moving up.
In 1998,we built a new 108" car,a Monte Carlo on a Larry Richards chassis.
The difference was night and day..we found the winners circle alot more,
and the season standings showed it...5th out of 47 cars!!
1999 would be our last year in the super stocks..and what a year it was!!
The competition was fierce...including 1990 title holder Daniel Prunty.
The team had the car on rails all year, and we finished 2nd out of 44 teams!
We decided this was the year to say good bye to Super stocks, and move up
to Super Late Models!
2000..a new millenium..a new division.
Wiedmeyers purchased a Pontiac skinned Port City Super Late Model
from Brad"JJ" Mueller during the off season, and the work began in the winter of '99.
To say the least,it was a learning curve.New shocks,different springs,scaling weekly,
2000 was a learning year for the team, finishing 37th out of 69 teams at Slinger.
Pete was awarded the "Hard Luck Driver" at the banquet...hopefully the award
"Most improved" will bear his name in 2001!!
2001-2004 We raced at Slinger with mixed results, and in 2005 we will run a limited
schedule in the #22 DDP MOTORSPORTS Ride.
