Strupp Enterprises 2003 News

(3-1-03) Tony and Mike Strupp are busy preparing their 2003 rides for the upcoming

season.

Mike will be focusing on SLINGER SPEEDWAY,with an occasional DELLS trip mixed

in,while Tony will be racing selected MARS,WCS and DELLS and SLINGER events.

Look for pictures in late March or early April of the 10 and 12 cars!

(4-12-03) DELLS Motor Speedway WCS 100 Lapper.

WOW..do they do it right at the Dells.New Pits are getting done,place is the crem da la crem' of

Wisconsin Short Tracks.Tony starts out 7th quick on a new compound combo for the WCS 100

lap event.Starting 4th row outside,Tony raced 2 by 2 for the first lap,and on lap 2 was tagged and

spun in turn 2.After the restart,the big opening night crowd witnessed why Tony is called "The

Tiger" as he methodically picked his way from the last row to the top ten nearing the halfway point

of the event.As the 61 car exited turn 4,he spun and the field scattered,and the 45 car made a sharp

right and tossed the 12 car into the turn 4 wall,damaging all the RF bolt on's and making a strong

run a 19th place finish.Next race,Madison opener April 19th.

(4-18-03)Madison International Speedway.A crowded pit,some of the

best in short track racing..Tony qualifies 20th out of near 60 for the 100

lap $5000 to win main.After starting 16th,Tony methodically works towards the front,and as he is is 6th,around lap 94,a caution flies and the field is moved back to the last lap completed,after the green appears,a bad crash occours out of the 3-4 turns and Tony has nowhere to go but into the 61 car and terminal LF suspension damage occours.Its a shame,but i guess it's racing..the race was won by Eric Fransen over Ron Breese.See you at Wayne's world this sunday!

(4-27-03) Slinger Super Speedway Tony and the 12 team drive down the block to the

Slinger track for the Twin 75's spring opener.Tony started out 2nd quick to Rich Loch,

took 4th in the fast dash,and charged to a 2nd place finish to Brad Mueller in the first 75.

In the second race,Tony moved up to a 3rd place finish after a late race restart negated a

pass for second.Next race,WCS at Columbus151 Speedway May 5th(see below)

(5-1-03) Due to a rough couple weeks to begin the 2003 season,Tony and the 12 team have decided

to skip event 2 of the WCS at Columbus 151 speedway May 5th....we'll announce upcoming races

(5-5-03)Slinger Speedway. Mike and his Strupp Enterprises team head off to the weekly opener

at the track,and time in 10th with an 11.324.In the feature,we missed the set-up and struggled to a 9th

place finish,Mike sits 10th in points and now has a week to straighten out the chassis.

5-9-03)  MADISON :( After a hard crash tonight..the 12 car will be in the shop awhile.Tony was sore,groggy

and bit thru his tongue...he is gonna be ok..the car...stay tuned.

(5-11-03) Slinger has called off the races for tonight..so Mike and the 10 team have a week off

(5-18-03)Mike and the 10 team head off to Slinger for the AK memorial race,start out 10th in

time with a 11.424,and in the main the car was bad loose..the result,18th in the 75 lapper

and a slide to 13th in the point standings.

(5-25-03)  Slinger and the EH Wolf 80 lapper..Mike qualifies 14th quick,starts in the 7th

row and finally has the chassis sorted out...the result..a 5th place finish. He sits 9th in

the season point standings.

(6-1-03)Slinger Speedway Al Schill Jr Memorial 70 lapper,Mike guides the Star Promotions

Big Red Machinery #10 Monte Carlo to 13th in time with a 11.456,and in the main,moves up,

falls back and moves back up to a 9th place finish,and 10th in the season point standings.

(6-8-03) The races at Slinger were cancelled at tonight...so Mike and the 10 team will try

next week.

(6-15-03) Slinger Speedway Mike times in a disapointing 21st,and while running 3rd in the

semi,a very loose 10 car develops a bad miss and Mike ends up 12th and slides to 13th in points.

Next week,Bryan Enders add's $5,000 to the winners check.....should be a hell of a race.

(6-22-03) Slinger Speedway..Mike hauls the 10 car to the fast 1/4 mile oval and after changing valve springs.

still has the miss that plauged him one week prior.After timing in 23rd at 11.691,the team changed the carb

and the car was fast..after avoiding a wayward car and going to the back in the 30 lap semi...Mike charged up

6th before running out of laps andan early night for the 10 team.

(6-29-03) Slinger Speedway Fireworks Night Mike times in a respectable 12th,gets inverted and was moving up

when his car just went away...the result..17th in the 85 lap main...and 15th in points.

(6-30-03) Tony Strupp Jr announced today the he has the 12 car near completion and his father will attempt to

qualify for the WCS Dells race this thursday July 3rd.

(7-6-03) Strupp Enterprises was in full force sunday at Slinger for the Mid Season Championship 65,

Mike took the Big Red/Star Promotions 10 car and timed in 15th quick,and after starting 15th in the

main,Mike found a line that he liked and was steadily moving towards the front.After passing MIke

Egan for 9th,a restart was needed and the 10 car developed a miss under yellow...the result,17th.

As for the 12 car,it was a shakedown after the car was rebuilt....the car was free...too free and the

Tiger was countersteering more than going forward....26th in time,12th in the semi.,...but all the nuts

and bolts are secure and the car looks damn nice!!!

(7-13-03) Slinger Speedway Both the 10 and 12 teams went to Slinger for the cola cola 50 lapper,

and in practice,Mike dropped a valve in the Mighty Monte,and his night never began.

In the 12 car,the team is still trying to figure the new machine out,and it was found that the rear end

is bad as the car  slipped and slid at will....we will return next week to "dial in" for the Nationals!

(7-20-03) Slinger Speedway Mike took a week off while waiting for his new motor,

Tony had the Star Promotions/Big Red Machinery 12 car on hand,and timed in early with an 11.584,

which barely got him into the 60 lap main,Starting 18th Tony tried to work his way thru traffic,but each groove

tried,he met resitance,so he basically drove an easy race and finished 13th,and has the car close for tuesday's

225 lapper...will the 1998 Champ get his second??

(7-22-03) Slinger Nationals 1998 champ Tony Strupp hauled the Mighty Mopar to the track and it was

a rough day,the car is just plain messed up....the crew has tried and tried to get it to work...to no avail.

Tony timed in 37th with an 11.621,took 7th in the qualifier that took 2 to the 225 lap main. In the semi,

Tony was moving to the front and just passing for 4th when a car was driving 1/2 speed in the racing

groove and he pushed Tony right to the back.Can you say weapon???-82-

(9-13-03) DELLS Motor Speedway. Tony and the Strupp team haul the 12 car to the Dells for the $10,000

to win show,and man,the Tiger is fast,timing in 6th out of 54 racers.Too bad the rains came and the race has been

moved to Sept 27th....will be an awesome show at the finest facilty in the midwest!!

(9-26-03) DELLS Motor Speedway. Well....its the show that won't go.....we try to race the 250 again,and mother

nature prevails one more time and the big show has been postponed until spring of 2004.
